LightFantastic two-week Showcase at the Malthouse Design Centre

Last night, The Malthouse Design Centre was launching their two-week exhibition of new lighting products by some of Ireland’s most exciting designers at 537 North Circular Road, Dublin 1.

It showcases the work of 16 Exciting Young Irish Lighting Designers Work. The event drew a nice crowd.

Emerging Malthouse Designers, Kathryn Payne with her flourish lighting ( check her facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kathryn-Payne-Design/210915055665576) and Aislinn Lynch ( http://aislinnlynch.tumblr.com/) were launching their new ranges for the very first time to the public. They are part of a support programme that the Malthouse has set up to encourage innovation and creativity in the Design Sector of Entrepreneurship.

Another well known lighting talent was Co Carlow native Sasha Sykes whose work has been inspired by Eileen Gray. Her cube lamps are packed with organic elements of nature (from rosebud to lichen and many more ingenious components that makes her lamps a treat: http://www.farm21.co.uk/tablelamps.html)

Other artists includes cocoon lamps, star shaped lamps and many other visionary design-like lamps.

On my way around the Malthouse Design Center I couldn’t help noticing Patricia Murphy’s ” fluffy” mini wall rugs and thought it deserved a mention here.
